01 · The therapy

What bioidentical hormone replacement actually is

Bioidentical hormones are estradiol, progesterone and testosterone that are structurally identical to the hormones your body has made your whole life. When your own production declines through perimenopause and menopause, BHRT restores those hormones at careful, physiologic doses, so the systems that depend on them, sleep, temperature regulation, mood, bone, libido, can work properly again.

One honest note up front: the word bioidentical is not magic on its own. What makes hormone therapy work well is the medicine around it. A real evaluation, labs before anything is prescribed, conservative starting doses, and follow-up that actually happens. That is the program here, and if hormones are not your problem, we will tell you that too.

02 · Who it helps

The symptoms nobody warned you about

Hormonal decline rarely announces itself. It shows up as a string of small things that add up: you sleep badly, run hot at night, snap at people you love, forget words mid-sentence, and stop feeling like yourself. Many women are told this is just aging. Often it is hormones, and it is treatable.

Perimenopause
Often starts in the 40s

Cycles change, sleep breaks first, mood swings sharpen and anxiety creeps in, all while periods still come. This stage is missed constantly.

Menopause
Periods have stopped

Hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, brain fog and thinning skin and hair as estrogen settles at its new low.

Surgical menopause
After hysterectomy or oophorectomy

When the ovaries are removed or shut down, symptoms can arrive suddenly and hard. These patients often need help the most.

03 · The evaluation

Labs first. Always.

Nobody gets a hormone prescription here without a workup. We take a full history, screen carefully for reasons hormone therapy would be unsafe for you, such as a history of breast cancer, blood clots, liver disease or unexplained bleeding, and draw a comprehensive panel:

  • Sex hormonesEstradiol, progesterone, total and free testosterone, SHBG, DHEA-S.
  • Pituitary signalsFSH and LH, which tell us where you actually are in the transition.
  • ThyroidTSH, because thyroid problems mimic hormonal decline and are treated differently.
  • General healthBlood counts, metabolic panel and lipids, so treatment is safe and the whole picture is seen.

Your results are reviewed with you, line by line. Then, if BHRT makes sense, Dr. Morris builds a protocol around your labs, your symptoms and your history: which hormones, what doses, and the delivery method that fits your life, whether that is a patch, a cream, oral progesterone or an injection.
