WHAT IS XEOMIN?
Xeomin is a prescription medication designed to be injected into the muscles responsible for causing frown lines between the eyebrows in adults. Xeomin contains botulinum toxin type A, which is a purified protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
How Does It Work?
Xeomin works on the nerve endings in the facial muscles to prevent muscle fibers from contracting. Repeated contraction and movement of muscles leads to the breakdown in skin’s elasticity resulting in the formation of lines and wrinkles. With Xeomin, these movements are reduced to temporarily soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

An Xeomin treatment is a relatively quick and painless process, typically completed within 10- 20 minutes. A local topical anesthetic may be applied to the injection site to minimize any form of discomfort but it is usually not necessary. Xeomin is injected into the muscles of the forehead where frown lines populate or into the facial or neck muscles where treatment is needed.
With Xeomin, results will start to become visible 3-4 days after your treatment with maximum effect occurring around 30 days after your procedure. Though individual results may vary, typical results last up to 3 months.
Xeomin is considered a well-tolerated injectable neurotoxin that can cause mild side effects including allergic reactions such as itching, rashes, redness, swelling, dizziness, or fainting. Xeomin may also lead to muscle weakness, blurred vision, or drooping eyelids within hours to weeks after treatment, so it is important to consult our providers about any questions you may have about Xeomin.
