Sciton Nano + Micro Laser Peel
polished, refreshed,
ready.
Two depths of Sciton's erbium laser peel, one platform, two ways to get glow without committing to a full resurfacing session.
Nano (lightest) is our true "lunchtime peel", refresh dullness with hours of pinkness. Micro (medium) is a deeper polish for sun damage, fine lines and texture, with 3-7 days of social downtime. Both performed by Olympia Morris, PA-C, on Sciton's JOULE platform.

What is a Sciton laser peel?
A Sciton laser peel uses an erbium 2940 nm laser to gently remove microscopic layers of the outermost skin in a precise, controlled way. Unlike a chemical peel, which relies on acid chemistry, the erbium laser ablates tissue with calibrated heat and depth, giving your provider far more control over how superficial or deep the treatment goes.
The result is a treatment that lives between a chemical peel and a true resurfacing session like HALO or ProFractional, strong enough to polish skin and stimulate collagen, gentle enough to recover in a week or less.

Nano vs Micro: choosing the right depth
Nano and Micro are the same erbium laser set to different depths. The depth selection determines how much skin is ablated, how long you'll heal, and how dramatic the result.
Nano Laser Peel: 4-10 microns ("lunchtime peel")
The lightest erbium peel. Only a few cell layers are removed. Expect pinkness for a few hours, then 3-5 days of micro-flaking that's easy to camouflage with mineral SPF. Best for dullness, mild surface texture, and a glow refresh before an event.
Micro Laser Peel: 4-50 microns ("the real polish")
A deeper but still ablative erbium peel. Removes more of the epidermis, which means real downtime (5-10 days of redness, swelling, and peeling) but markedly better results for sun damage, fine lines, melasma, and uneven texture. Typically one to three sessions spaced weeks apart.
For most patients, the right choice depends on (1) the depth of the concern, (2) how much downtime you can tolerate, and (3) where you sit in the broader skin plan. We'll match the depth to the goal at your consultation.
What Nano + Micro Laser Peel treat best
Both Nano and Micro Laser Peels are most useful when tone, clarity and texture are the main concerns, not deep wrinkles or significant scarring. Common indications:
- Dullness & loss of radianceTired-looking skin in natural light. Both peels gently lift the outer layer to reveal fresher skin underneath.
- Sun damage & uneven pigmentMild to moderate sun spots, freckling and uneven tone. Micro is the deeper option for stubborn pigment.
- Fine surface linesEarly lines around the eyes and mouth that haven't yet etched into the deeper dermis.
- Mild melasmaSurface-level melasma may respond well when paired with strict sun protection and topical care.
- Enlarged pores & mild textureSmoother surface and tighter-looking pores after the skin heals from the peel.
- Pre-event "polish"A Nano peel scheduled 7-10 days before a wedding or major event gives a refined, lit-from-within finish.
During and after treatment
After a brief topical numbing, your provider passes the erbium handpiece evenly across the treatment area. Sessions are quick, 15-30 minutes for Nano, 30-45 for Micro. You'll feel light warmth and a sandpaper-like sensation, which is comfortable for most patients.
Recovery depends on depth. Nano: pink for a few hours, fine flaking days 2-5, normal skin by day 5-7. Micro: visible redness and swelling days 1-3, peeling days 3-7, pink "new skin" days 7-10. Aggressive sun protection is non-negotiable during recovery and for at least 4 weeks after.
Some improvement is visible after one session, but most patients book a series of 2-3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart for the most consistent results, especially for sun damage and pigment work.

Laser peels look simple. Depth selection, cadence and timing are where outcome lives.
At Olympia Aesthetics & Wellness, peels are performed by Olympia Morris, PA-C, not delegated to a technician. She doesn't believe in one-size-fits-all settings. Instead, every Nano or Micro peel is calibrated to the patient: skin type, concern depth, pigment behavior, recovery schedule, and how the peel fits into a longer-term plan.
For many patients, an erbium peel is one chapter in a broader strategy that also includes BBL HEROic for tone, HALO for hybrid resurfacing or ProFractional for deeper texture. The goal isn't more peels, it's the right sequence so results look natural and age-appropriate.
Laser peel vs HALO vs BBL vs ProFractional
A common question: "Where does a laser peel fit in the Sciton lineup?" Peels are the polish entry, the lightest end of the depth spectrum. Heavier concerns step up to hybrid or fully-resurfacing tools. Here's how the family compares.
Nano + Micro Laser Peel
Erbium peel at two depths. Nano refreshes dullness, Micro deepens for sun damage and texture. The polish entry to Sciton resurfacing.
BBL HEROic
Broadband light treats pigment and vascular concerns. The foundation of most rejuvenation plans, often paired with a peel.
HALO
Hybrid fractional laser combining ablative and non-ablative wavelengths in one pass for noticeable resurfacing.
ProFractional
Ablative fractional erbium laser for acne scars, deep texture and advanced fine lines. Customizable depth and density.

What is the difference between Nano and Micro Laser Peel?
Both use Sciton's erbium 2940 nm laser to remove microscopic layers of skin, but at different depths. Nano is the lightest peel, 4-10 microns deep, with pinkness for a few hours and 3-5 days of fine flaking (the "lunchtime peel"). Micro is deeper, 4-50 microns, with 5-10 days of visible peeling and more dramatic improvement in sun damage, fine lines and texture.
Is a Sciton laser peel the same as a chemical peel?
No. A chemical peel uses acids (like glycolic, TCA or salicylic) to dissolve skin layers chemically. A Sciton laser peel uses an erbium laser to ablate skin layers with calibrated heat and depth. The laser version is far more precise and predictable, your provider can dial in exactly how superficial or deep the treatment goes.
How much downtime should I expect?
Nano: pinkness for a few hours, fine flaking days 2-5, back to normal by day 5-7. Micro: visible redness and swelling days 1-3, real peeling days 3-7, pink "new skin" days 7-10. Plan your social calendar accordingly. Nano is wedding-week friendly, Micro is not.
Will my skin peel or flake?
Yes, that's how the treatment works. Both Nano and Micro remove layers of skin, which then shed over the recovery period. Nano flaking is fine and easy to camouflage with mineral SPF. Micro flaking is more pronounced (resembling a sunburn peeling) and lasts a few days longer.
How many treatments will I need?
Most patients book a series of 2-3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart for the most consistent results, especially when treating sun damage or persistent pigment. A single Nano peel is often enough as a one-time "refresh" before an event.
Does a laser peel hurt?
Both peels are well tolerated. Topical numbing is applied before treatment, and most patients describe the sensation as warm with a sandpaper-like feel. Micro is a deeper treatment so the sensation is slightly stronger, but still manageable for almost everyone without additional medication.
Can I do a laser peel before a wedding or major event?
Yes, a Nano Laser Peel scheduled 7-10 days before a major event is one of our most popular pre-wedding treatments. It gives a refined, lit-from-within finish without the longer recovery of deeper resurfacing. Micro requires more planning, aim for 3-4 weeks before the event.
Is a Sciton laser peel safe for all skin types?
Sciton erbium peels can be performed safely on many skin types when settings are individualized by an experienced provider. During your consultation at Olympia Aesthetics & Wellness, your skin tone, pigment pattern and history are reviewed to ensure the right depth, or to recommend an alternative if a peel is not the safest choice for your skin.
How long do laser peel results last?
Results from a series of laser peels can last 6-12 months or longer with consistent sun protection and a maintenance schedule. Ongoing sun exposure without protection shortens the longevity of any peel result. SPF is non-negotiable for keeping the skin you just paid to renew.
